Using Sky Drone FPV on a USV (Unmanned surface vehicle)
Posted by Sky Drone Team on
The Sky Drone FPV and Sky Drone Link systems are not only being used for UAVs but also on robotic boats / USVs (Unmanned surface vehicles). See this thread from USV builders that are using Sky Drone FPV on their USV on how they integrate it:https://discuss.bluerobotics.com/t/solarsurfer-continuation-project/522/37
UAS with Sky Drone FPV for sea turtle research and conservation
Posted by Sky Drone Team on
A new paper that was published in the Endangered Species Research journal last month shows how Sky Drone FPV can be used for sea turtle conservation. Quote: Incorporating the use of cellular networks to trigger autonomous UAV missions or remotely fly FPV is already in development (Sky Drone FPV). If successful, this will reduce the need to visit remote field sites in monitoring programmes (with the caveat that there is cellular network coverage), thus saving resources that can be used on other initiatives. Abstract: The use of satellite systems and manned aircraft surveys for remote data collection has been shown...

Using LTE when flying 700km/h.
Posted by Sky Drone Team on
One of the common questions regarding the use of 4G/LTE on drones is if the connection still works at high speeds. Especially in regard to fast flying fixed wings UAVs. In particular the Doppler Effect is often stated as the main concern.Ericsson actually tested this - not on a drone but on a jet! The results showed that the PCs were able to connect to the internet with a maximum downlink speed of 19 megabits per second while flying at 700km/h and with the force of 4G. A seamless handover from one radio base station to the next was possible...
4k Low-Latency Drone Video Streaming with Sony RX0
Posted by Sky Drone Team on
Sony recently released the new Sony RX0 camera that has a large 1.0-type Exmor CMOS sensor that outputs 4K video. Sony was able to put everything in a tiny 59 x 40.5 x 29.8 mm duralumin body weighing just 100g.This camera is perfect to use on a drone and directly integrates with our Sky Drone Link 4k solution to provide a low latency 4k UHD downlink.
